Let me give you a fast answer to that question. No they aren’t. However, I could see how someone might say that they are. Let’s face it, the Republicans are awful and the incumbent Democrats are quite happy with simply not being worse.
Has anyone ever described an academic curve for an exam or semester grade as “you and your freind are walking in the woods when a bear starts chasing you. You don’t have to be faster than the bear, you just have to be faster than your friend.” That’s how it seems the DNC is constructing the policy that it uses, simply not worse than what the GOP has to offer.
Some of us are familiar with the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) and what it does. See http://stinktanks.org if you aren’t. Corporations are designing the government that best suits them and there is no one looking out for the average American anymore. Even above average Americans are left out of the loop. These corporations meet with your elected representatives and decide what language to put in our laws.
As well, it was revealed that the policy of the DNC is that it is a private organization and that it has the right to choose the nominee that it sees fit. It basically means that the practice of going into a voting booth is a sham. Isn’t that a good thing seeing as how easily the voting machines are hacked anyway?
Those who ask how America got this bad are shocked to hear no response from those who began to warn about this when the GOP chose Ronald Reagan as thier nominee. Others began to warn about what would happen if the Reaganites weren’t stopped when it was discovered that they were overthrowing foreign governments. Some began to become concerned during the “occupy” movements. Some got angry at the war in Iraq. The innauguration of Donald tRUMP turned many of the apethetic into activists.
There is plenty to be angry about. There is much that you and we can oppose. The question is, “when are you going to get energetic about something of which you are in favor?” For me, it is the policy discussed by Bernie Sanders in his campaign to become the DNC nominee. I got excited about it because it is the policy that I want and also, there is a great amount of cohesiveness around that policy.
